Welcome to the Center for Southwest Research (CSWR) and Special Collections

Welcome! The Center for Southwest Research (CSWR) specializes in interdisciplinary subjects relating to New Mexico, the Southwestern U.S., Mexico and Latin America, as well as rare materials from around the world. Our strengths include Native American, Chicano/Hispano, Spanish Colonial, and environmental history, plus a wide range of locally published and archival materials documenting the region.

 Find Archival Materials

The Rocky Mountain Online Archive includes information about archival collections in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Finding aids give detailed descriptions of primary source materials located at twenty-seven different repositories. Materials held in the Center for Southwest Research can be requested in the Anderson Reading Room.

Celebrating New Mexico Statehood

Designed to facilitate research about New Mexico's past, cultural heritage materials from 12 New Mexico institutions are available here for study and research. Materials include photographs, documents, maps, posters, art, music and video.

Tony Hillerman Portal

This portal is a comprehensive resource for information about Tony Hillerman, his life and work. It hosts digital reproductions of Hillerman's manuscripts, screenplays and papers, as well as a complete catalog of his published works.
