Welcome to the Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections

The Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections (CSWR) specializes in interdisciplinary subjects relating to New Mexico, the Southwestern U.S., Mexico and Latin America, as well as rare materials from around the world. Our strengths include Native American, Chicano/Hispano, Latin American, Spanish Colonial, and environmental history, plus a wide range of locally published and archival materials documenting the region.

Find Archival Materials

The Rocky Mountain Online Archive includes information about archival collections in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Finding aids give detailed descriptions of primary source materials located at twenty-seven different repositories. Materials held in the Center for Southwest Research can be requested in the Anderson Reading Room.

LoboVault is UNM's Institutional Repository. It hosts scholarly publications from UNM faculty, graduate student theses and dissertations from 2009 through the present, UNM administrative records, and more.

Celebrating New Mexico Statehood

Cultural heritage materials from 12 New Mexico institutions are available here, including photographs, documents, maps, posters, art, music and video.

Tony Hillerman Portal

This portal hosts digital reproductions of Hillerman's manuscripts, screenplays and papers, as well as a complete catalog of his published works.

New Mexico Digital Newspapers

Over 200,000 pages of historical newspapers from New Mexico can be found here.
